C. Manning
Print titled "Sand Hills: Newcastle Upon Tyne."
Vintage print, framed.
12-1/2" x 15-3/4" (32 cm x 40 cm) framed.
It has a small label on the back from a gallery called Mages, Chicago.
The label is hand-numbered 2269-8 and the handwritten title reads:
"Sand Hills, New Castle on the Tyne." Artist's name printed on front
bottom, left corner (not an original signature).
Purchased at estate sale of John (Jack) Lucas in Winona, Minnesota
about 2 yrs. ago. The sale was conducted by Lee-Ann Estate Sales
of Winona, MN.
Jack Lucas was a prominent resident of Winona, Minnesota. His
family started the Laird Norton Lumber Company in Winona in the late
1800s. Today it's UBC -- United Builders Corporation with stores
all over the country. Lucas and his wife lived in Winona, but
they also lived in Europe for several years. Lucas was an avid
art collector and died in Winona.
The item is very clean,
matted in an elegant, bordered salmon matting. The frame is original
and does have some wear, primarily to the raised areas. The brown paper
on the back is significantly torn. Otherwise, very nice!
Exhibits, in catalogs: I don't know.
